Every season we sit down and talk about what's actually resonating with the couples we're designing for around Charlotte. Here are five directions we keep coming back to this year.
1. Textured, layered tablescapes
Flat linens and matching florals are giving way to tables built in layers: a textured runner, mismatched vintage-inspired glassware, and candles at varying heights. It reads as collected and personal rather than rented.
2. Sustainable, seasonal florals
More couples are asking us to lean into what's actually in season locally rather than flying in out-of-season blooms. It's better for the budget, and the arrangements tend to feel more relaxed and garden-grown.
3. Warm, low lighting over cool white
Warm amber string lights, candles, and lanterns are replacing the cooler, brighter lighting that was popular a few years ago. It photographs beautifully and makes a reception feel like an evening at home rather than an event hall.
4. Statement florals in one spot, simplicity everywhere else
Instead of florals spread evenly across every surface, we're designing one or two real showpieces — an arch, a hanging installation, a dramatic centerpiece at the sweetheart table — and keeping the rest of the space intentionally simple.
5. Personal details over generic signage
Hand-lettered welcome signs, family photos worked into the decor, and small nods to how the couple met are showing up more than generic printed signage. It's a small shift that makes a big difference in how a space feels.
If any of these directions speak to you, we'd love to talk through what they could look like for your own Charlotte wedding.
